Learn about Friendly Facilities

Your Friendly Home

Everyone experiences old age eventually, when abilities decrease or physical health declines to a point where it becomes challenging to cope with the typical activities in daily life.

The design of a Friendly home for the elderly and persons of different abilities must therefore take into consideration the loss of functional capacity.

A Friendly home shall accommodate age-related declines in mobility, including the higher risk of falling, reduced range of reach, reduced strength and use of mobility aids such as walking sticks, wheelchairs, and crutches.

In order to do that, it must come with features and facilities that satisfy a wide range of accessibility requirements.

Unit Entrance

Levelled floor at unit entrance.

Door Handles

Elder-friendly door handles.

Bathroom

At least one bathroom in every residential unit to be retrofitted for the elderly and wheelchair users when the need arises.

Bathroom Door

A typical two-way bathroom swing door with metal plates that permits two-way opening for safety.

Switches

Large easy-touch rocker light switches for the elderly as well as persons with impaired dexterity.

Kitchen Cabinet

Mobile cabinets under kitchen tabletop are recommended for greater storage capacity and the flexibility of freeing up space under the tabletop.
