Key Features
-
The New National Library Building is accessible from the four streets surrounding the block.
Canopies are generously provided along the building’s periphery and drop-off points for
passengers are weather protected.
-
Visitors on wheelchairs have barrier-free access to the entire premises so that everyone can
enjoy the facilities.
-
The information counter, e-kiosk (for checking account, membership registration etc) and
payphones are positioned at heights accessible to the wheel chair bound.
-
The aisles are wide enough allowing everyone including those on wheelchairs to enjoy browsing
the collections.
-
Toilets for the wheelchair users are large with mirrors tilted towards the person.
-
Entrance to toilet cluster is cleverly designed with no door and yet without compromising privacy.
This helps to prevent accidents such as being hit by the door.
-
For the families, there are nursing rooms and low urinals for children.
-
For the public and the staff, the building is teemed with open space and sky gardens to enjoy.
